"Bordie & Sadie" - Commission Portrait Piece

As we all may already know, people love animals, and not just any animals, their animals. My Barber Ed recently asked if I could possibly sketch a portrait of his boxer puppies for his wife. Now I've been recently working more animals into my portfolio so the job couldn't have come at a better time. I really enjoyed working on this because both dogs seemed to have had such adorable personalities that really came through in the photo reference he provided. He was thrilled with the finalized sketch and couldn't wait for his wife to see it.

i love it! I think what I really like is the fact that its so different than your normal digital stuff. I love seeing an artist who usually do the very bold and graphic style, do something so different.

All that, and I want to say that I do dig your "normal" style.

Thanks so much Mike! After my exhibition I needed a little break from all the digital stuff. This was a great way to stay creative but lean in a different direction. I truly appreciate your feedback.

I especially love the tongue on the dog on the left. And Mike's right, seeing you work in graphite is pretty cool; it means you're a flexible artist.

Thanks so much Janelle!!! If you would have seen the photo reference you would be amazed. Her tongue was actually longer but I shortened it to make it fit the composition. It almost looked as if it were photoshopped.
